As a faithful and demanding connoisseur, Arnold Schwarzenegger
has accompanied the manufacturer Audemars Piguet for many years.
After the Royal Oak Offshore chronographs created for the hero
of 'End of Days' and then 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines',
here comes a new
interpretation of a model cherished by the actor, but above all
the man himself: the Royal Oak Offshore Arnold Schwarzenegger
chronograph.
To withstand extremes
Representing the ultra-sport version of the Royal Oak, the Royal
Oak Offshore collection was designed to face up to the most extreme
conditions. While retaining the spirit of the legendary octagonal
watch, this collection combines horological performances, sturdiness
and water-resistance. Its favourite materials? Titanium, steel
and, of course, 18-carat gold for the case. This genuine “strongbox”
of a watch, entirely assembled by hand, houses a movement designed
to enable it to withstand any form of attacks. It is even protected
from magnetic fields thanks to a soft-iron cage.
Distinguished
elegance
Because there is a life after film sets, Arnold Schwarzenegger
has imagined another Royal Oak Offshore. A model exuding distinguished
elegance, using different materials, playing on a variety of warm,
contrasting shades. The 18-carat yellow gold bezel frames a dark-brown
dial adorned with the mega-large tapestry motif. Illuminated by
white Arabic numerals, the dial is graced with discreetly revolving
gold-edged luminescent hands. In the background, the gold-coloured
counters and the date display share the available space: chronograph
minute and hour counters at 9 and 6 o’clock, date window
at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 12 o’clock. Finally,
in accordance with the technical specifications of the Royal Oak
Offshore collection, the crown and push-buttons are equipped with
a black-rubber guard.
A name and a signature
Fitted with a gold AP folding clasp, the chestnut-brown crocodile
leather strap is a perfect match for the 18-carat yellow gold
of the bezel and case. It is harmoniously attached by means of
two studs, a process new to this collection. It therefore underscores
the balance between overall effect and the flowing lines, which
offer powerful aesthetic appeal through its marriage of gold and
leather. Finally, in an ultimate touch that carries its own significance,
the caseback is engraved with the signature of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
